Costa Rica

A country that has 5% of the world’s biodiversity can only be an awesome place to go and find cute furry animals. This figure refers to feathery and leafy organisms though. However it was well worth the visit for all the wildlife.

Following photos come from Monteverde Cloud Forest, Corcovado National Park, Arenal Volcano area and a few other spots along the way. The difference in the landscapes is amazing and the amount of animals on display is mind-blowing.

While there are animals everywhere a lot of the pristine land is off limits without a guide. It takes planing to find the right guide and get permission to go to parks when the sun rises. Most are geared towards mass tourism. However with effort it is possible to escape the crowds and see obscure and barely known species.

Unfortunately I didn’t get a great quality shot of the iconic Quetzal, one of Costa Rica’s most sought out birds. All the more reason to go back and try again.
